Ten linkAges Timebank members came together on Tuesday, February 11th, at the Mountain View Senior Center to make Valentine’s Day cards for recently returned veterans at the VA. When we planned for the event, we weren’t sure how many cards we would be able to make. We figured that folks would stop by, make a card or two and then head home. Boy, were we wrong!
The folks that came out were committed to making ALL the cards we could using the supplies on-hand. They stayed the entire two hours and each made 4-5 cards for a total of 52 Valentine’s Day cards!
We were so impressed with the creativity of everyone. No two cards were alike! In each card, the member wrote a small note of thanks, appreciation and shared a tidbit about themselves. One member had a son that was currently serving in Afghanistan and another member is a veteran herself, recently returning from a tour in Afghanistan.
Thank you to everyone who supported the event! We hope you will join us for a future TimeBank Tales event; these are monthly events planned by TimeBank members or staff to get together around a fun topic or activity and get to know each other. If you have any ideas for events, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
