At the Palo Alto Medical Foundation’s Innovation Center, we are developing ways to make it easier and safer for seniors to live independently.
We are currently looking for seniors to help us refine a new system that aims to do two things: 1) give seniors more security in living on their own and 2) give caregivers peace of mind that their seniors have the care they need.
We are currently testing a new program called LinkAges Connect – an alert system that notifies a loved one if and when you need assistance. It uses basic information about your utility usage patterns to alert loved ones in advance of an emergency. LinkAges Connect provides the best of both worlds – you keep your independence while having a safety net that’s available if you need it.
Such technology has the potential to transform how seniors age, giving them more freedom to live where and how they want, and with dignity. We need your help to make it possible. Would you help us improve this system by taking part in a simple, free, three-month test? By volunteering, you can make a big difference in the lives of other seniors.
We are looking for volunteers who:
- Are 60+ in age
- Live in a detached single family home or townhome
- Live in a home equipped with a PG&E Smart Meter for your electricity
- Have a working internet connection
