A Lesson in Tai Chi

TimeBank Tales reflect the monthly events where TimeBank members and guests from the community come together to share stories, laugh, learn and have fun. With the generous help of community partners, these diverse events help promote neighborly connections and shared interests.

Classes and instruction in tai chi, a type of Chinese martial art, have become more popular…well at least, around here. We heard that it can be good to combat stress, build strength, and as a way to improve your health.

So, we thought we’d try it.

Local tai chi instructors Mike Chan and Robert Brown from the Taijiquan Tutelage of Palo Alto offered to come and provide an introductory demonstration for linkAges TimeBank members this month.

About 25 linkAges TimeBank members of all ages met at Rinconada Park in Palo Alto. After a short overview of the history and health benefits of tai chi, we were introduced to some basic forms and movements.

linkAges TimeBank members loved the event and left feeling more physically and mentally grounded than when they came.
